Le Clos Saint Louis - The Old Quebec City Hotel in the Heart of the City

The next time we travel to Quebec, we will stay at your wonderful hotel.

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Quebec City and wanted to thank you. We stayed at your fascinating hotel and were very pleased with both your facility and the service you provided. The room we stayed in was more than charming and had everything we needed -- it was extremely comfortable and very inviting. In addition, the location of your hotel is excellent for anyone looking to explore old town Quebec -- we simply walked out the door, ready to explore this great historic city.

"Your staff makes your hotel an absolute jewel!"

Dear Ghyslaine,
I did not meet you personally during my recent stay at your exquisite, boutique hotel during Quebec’s Summer Festival, but I wanted to tell you something very important. Your staff, makes your hotel an absolute jewel. Their ever-present graciousness, patience, caring, and amiable conversations are delightful and, certainly, an unexpected pleasure. Amidst your hotel’s lovely antiques, beautiful furnishings, and wonderful amenities, which by themselves offer value enough, the staff is your greatest treasure.

Thank you all very, very much.

Au revoir!

“One of the most romantic homes we,'ve been in Canada!”

Finding the perfect place for an anniversary can be stressful! Set in the heart of old Quebec this intimate hotel allowed us to enjoy the warmth and comfort of a private home combined with the sophistication and service of a great Victorian house. This is one of the most romantic homes we’ve been to in Canada.

“All in all, a great hotel”

Bring your camera; you’re in for a treat! We (two American photojournalists) stayed at the Clos Saint-Louis for 3 nights in October while in Quebec covering the visit of the Queen Mary 11. The rooms were decorated with antique furnishings and perfect Victorian style. Perfect bathroom with all the necessary even a whirlpool bath. Add to this a perfect location Internet access and great price. A short walk to the best shops and sights. As a photographer, I found I just had to take several close still photographs of this romantic hotel. All in all, a great hotel. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Quebec city.

“More like a five stars”

Just wanted to extend a belated thanks for the great stay at your Hotel. The room was only surpassed by your service. A special thanks to Paul who was more like a friend of the family than a concierge. His recommendations and thoughtfulness are appreciated. You don’t normally get this level of treatment in a hotel of any level. And of course the rooms, and ambience of the hotel in general were more like a five stars. We will definitely be back.

“Staffs were fluent in English and very knowledgeable”

We selected the Hotel Le Close St-Louis based on the reviews on trip advisor. We found it to be everything that the reviews said it would be. Our room was on the third floor (Room #7) and although it may be one of the smaller rooms in the hotel, it was still more than adequate. The bathroom was up-to-date with a whirlpool tub and had good lighting. The room had a very comfortable queen size bed and the Victorian colors and furnishings gave it a warm and relaxing feeling. The entire hotel was spotless and very well maintained. The staffs were fluent in English and very knowledgeable about Quebec City. Paul was very accommodating and helpful making dinner and taxi reservations. There were also two female employees (but we didn't get their names) who also were very helpful. The location of the hotel on Rue St. Louis is excellent. It is only a short walk to the Chateau Frontanec and one of upper town's best restaurants, Sainte-Amour, is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is also walking distance to the Citadelle. On our next trip to Quebec City we will definitely stay at the Hotel Le Clos St-Louis again.

“The perfect home for our weekend”

I have never written in on-line reviews, blogs, chat rooms, etc., but I'm breaking that trend because of Le Clos St-Louis. I took my girlfriend to Quebec for a surprise engagement, and the hotel and its staff made the weekend one we will remember forever. The hotel itself exuded historical charm in every room we saw. We stayed in room 21, which was great because not only was it decorated classically, but its functional elements (mattress, shower, sink, etc.) were comfortingly modern. The cozy, romantic atmosphere of the hotel, and the ultra-friendly staff, served as the perfect home for our weekend. The staff also was of invaluable assistance outside the hotel. Paul cheerily endured several of my phone calls leading up to our stay, and provided one perfect recommendation after another re how we should spend a memorable weekend in Quebec -- and he made all of the reservations! We were treated so well everywhere we went that I have to believe he put the word in that we should receive special treatment. If you're looking for an intimate, romantic hotel in the absolute center of Quebec where the staff make your trip something special, Le Clos St-Louis is definitely where you should stay. We certainly will next time.

"Golden experience for romantic weekend at Quebec City"

We had the luck to stay at the CLos St-Louis based on this site reviews in early September. Our 3 nights stay was made extremely comfortable by the responsiveness and helpfulness of the owner Ghislaine and her great staff. The staffs were pleasant and very helpful and spoke fluent English, which was a big relieve for us. We had the pleasure to experience two of their best rooms since the house was booked full during that sunny weekend in Quebec City. Both rooms were very tasteful and with an extremely sparkling bathroom and first- bedding and décor. They appear exactly as shown on their great website. This romantic hotel is a must for anyone searching for a golden experience close to all the major attractions and events in this romantic city. We recommend you book early! Will definitely be going back...something very rare for us! Bravo to the owner and her entire staff!

"A small chateau for lovers"

Back in August , I surprised my wife with a guest suite room at the Hotel Le Clos Saint-Louis to celeb our 35th anniversary. Happy to report that the services and facilities are all outstanding. The theme of this grand house hotel is 19th-century Victorian style, and it's reflected in the decor all through the hotel. I have stayed in many of the top hotel in this European style city for business travel including the Chateau Frontenac, Dominion , the concorde, Auberge St-Pierre and I must say this is the best by far! Our room (19) was extremely clean, the location great, the staff courteous at all times and very helpful. Hard to imagine a better value for your money! In fact we have already book two rooms to celeb the winter Carnival with friends in January. THIS SMALL HOTEL IS A WINNER!

“For the overall, just a flawless stay!”

We had the most incredible stay at this small townhouse hotel. I can't imagine how it could have been better for our anniversary trip to Quebec City! The ambience and decor were unparalleled. The service was highly professional, and all our needs and wants were taking care prior to our arrival by the wonderful staff members Paul and Jocelyn. The location is matchless - walking distance to everything you want to see and experience in this romantic city. The place is overflowing with elegance and refinement. This historic house who provided a parking area is a must for anyone looking for excellent service, tranquility & romance. It is the most romantic hotel in the most romantic city in North America. The owner was eager to point out that starting this fall breakfast will be available throughout the year at a low cost. She decided to bring back this service because she misses the important contact with her guests in the morning. Excellent news because it cost us 30$ each morning for our breakfast at a nearby restaurant. For the overall, just a flawless stay!

“Highly recommended!”

Just returned from 3 nights at the Clos Saint Louis. What a terrific time! We'd never been to Quebec City before and checked online, mostly with Tripadvisor. Saw that there isn't a single negative review of the Saint Louis and decided to give it a try. Friends were recommending the Frontenac, but we wanted something cozier. At less than half the price, the location is terrific. The staffs are delightful. And there are countless wonderful restaurants a short walk away. We had such an enjoyable time; we decided to stay an extra day. Our first room (room 22) was a bit smaller than the room they moved us to for our added day, but we actually enjoyed the smaller room more because it was one story higher and it faced the back rather than Rue Saint Louis where you hear some traffic. The stairs are steep, but for us the extra walk was worthwhile. Quiet throughout; a great night's sleep; wonderful place to stay. We would not hesitate head back to beautiful Quebec City, and when we go, our first call will be to the Clos Saint Louis. Highly recommended!

"Jewel in vieux Quebec"

Absolutely lovely small hotel in the heart of Old Quebec. Rooms were tastefully decorated to fit with the feel and romance of this part of the City. The room (and bath with jacuzzi tub) was very clean, comfortable and up to date in all respects. Pictures of individual rooms are available on the hotels own web site. Staffs were excellent and attentive to all needs. Parking was available behind the hotel (quite a rarity in this part of the City) and is included in the room . WiFi internet access is available as well. We quite enjoyed our end of July trip to Quebec and plan on returning again. This is where we will stay!

“A new must where to stay list”

Superlative reviews cannot do justice to the experience of "being there." Service, staff, s, accommodations, ambience, personal attention, and LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION make this a new "must" on my "Where to Stay" list, having stayed at many other QC hotels, including Le Château Frontenac. For those who may fear treading into "foreign language" territory, be assured that the staffs at this charming inn speaks fluent English, as well as French, and will graciously ensure that you navigate your visit with ease and comfort. Jocelyne was ever ready with an assuring smile to chat at length about local activities, despite my "rusty" French. Be sure to heed Paul-Émile's restaurant recommendations -- they're spot on!

“We would highly recommend this hotel !”

My husband and I loved this hotel where we stayed for 5 nights to celeb our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel is warm and charming, staff is excellent - especially Paul who was very helpful in making recommendations for restaurants and other fun events. The location is perfect. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and if and when we decide to return to Quebec City, we will stay at this location again.

“Couldn't have picked a more perfect place!”

My husband and I spent 2 nights at this lovely hotel in late September. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a more perfect place. The staff were very friendly and helpful-especially Paul. The hotel was beautifully decorated. We stayed in room 18, which was a little small, but so elegant and comfortable one did not notice the size. It was nice to be able to open the door to the outside-we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather. Staff were spot on with their recommendations for dinner-both Conti and Le Continental were both extremely good and enjoyable. Overall we had an excellent time and would highly recommend this hotel. By the way they did serve breakfast from 8-10am-very tasty and plentiful served in a quaint breakfast room downstairs.
